Guided walking

We offer a wide variety of guided walking, at low and high level, from a couple of hours to several days in the Cairngorms and further afield.

Let us introduce you to wild places with spectacular scenery, guide you up some of our mountains or walk you through the history of the area and its flora and fauna.

Our walking routes take in some of the classic highlights of the area and they also allow you to discover lesser-known favourites from a local’s perspective. We also enjoy sharing our favourite spots to photograph or paint off the beaten track.

Treasure hunt

Search for hidden treasure in Braemar. We’ll teach you to use the treasure map and compass to navigate your way round the clues.

On the way you’ll find out more about the history of our village, and about one of our famous residents from the past. Then the trail leads to Creag Choinnich Woods to learn more about the art of navigation.

Our treasure hunt is suitable for children aged 5 – 12 years old.

Family walks

Uncover the mysteries of the forest and meet some of its wild inhabitants. Learn the secret stories about some of Scotland’s native plants and trees, as well as their past and present uses.

You’ll also discover how people lived and worked in the area in centuries gone by, explore the ruins of a remote village and learn about the lives of its inhabitants. With the extreme weather conditions and tricky terrain, how did they farm the land and build their homes?

To finish off the trip, you’ll also make an ancient form of light, similar to one these inhabitants would have used.
